Overview

Vipère Enroulée Entrepreneurs Militaire is a ragtag organization of battered corvettes, frigates and fighters bound together in the interest of general mayhem and plunder. With a space force so heavily outdated that it would be of little use against any but the most backwards local defense force Vipère Enroulée survives by raiding unguarded merchant shipping and strip-mining unprotected asteroids and even on occasion small planets. Lacking any kind of clear organizational structure, apart from the official Director, Vipère Enroulée operates as a half dozen self sufficient units each based around one of their massive Pioche mining ships. While they are registered as a Private Military Corporation with the French Republic they receive no recognition from the French government or navy and only maintain their status through the massive bribes paid yearly to members of the Senate's Armed Forces Committee. Little more than pirates and raiders Vipère Enroulée has clashed regularly with the ships of interpol as well as a number of documented incidents with foreign naval vessels.

Organization

Rather than the top down structure of other PMCs Vipère Enroulée is subdivided into six small, 15-25 ship units each based around a Pioche miner/freighter. Each unit operates entirely independently; simply paying 35% of its total income back to the home office on Nantes every year. Flotillas unable to produce a certain minimum income are recalled to Nantes, stripped of their ships and (usually) turned over to Interpol for punishment on fabricated charges. The next year the flotilla sets out to resume its career of pillage and bloodshed, this time with entirely new crews. There are no universal regulations, apart from the mandated minimum income. The Office of the Director provides no official instruction on how the quota is to be met.
