Overview
The Chinese Soviet Socialist Republic is a Chinese republic within the Soviet Union. It was formed by the millions upon millions of Chinese refugees who entered the Soviet Union after the First Scinfaxi War.
History
World War II
World War II was essentially an interruption of the civil war raging in China at the time. The highly effective Japanese invasion of Manchuria forced the Nationalist and Communist sides of the civil war to band together to fight their invader. However, the Chinese forces, on both sides, proved incapable of truly stemming the Japanese tide.
The Communists, under Mao Zedong; whose ideology guides the modern SSR, however, proved to be a major thorn in the side of the Japanese; causing constant problems with Guerrilla raids in occupied countryside. Eventually, it became known that while the Japanese owned the cities, the country was effectively belonged to the Communists.
Scinfaxi Invasion
The Japanese were one threat, the Scinfaxi were another beast entirely. The Imperial Japanese Army, the Nationalist Revolutionary Army, and the People's Liberation Army of the Communists wilted like flowers in the face of Scinfaxi power. Knowing that a direct struggle would be fruitless against such a foe, Mao and the senior PLA leadership quickly decided that their guerrilla operations which were so effective against the Japanese should be practiced against the alien invaders.
As the Scinfaxi swept across China and reduced the Nationalists to a petty rump state and as the Japanese found themselves locked into the Korean peninsula, Mao's soldiers roamed the rest of China. The Communists' previous foes found themselves all but spent in their conflicts, the only human resistance in much of China came from the PLA. Witnessing the xeno brutality, their numbers swelled, but could still only fight like mists and whispers, for the Scinfaxi technology was too much to overcome in any pitched battle.
Post-War
The Nationalists would be destroyed under the waves of Scinfaxi assault forces, whilst the Communists under Mao Zedong's iron leadership retreated further and further northwards. Bypassing the withering Japanese armies, millions of Chinese fled towards the Sino-Soviet border, desperate to escape the savagery of the alien invaders.
Birth of the Chinese Soviet Socialist Republic
Sino-Japanese Relations
The Chinese Soviet Socialist Republic considers itself in a permanent state of war with the Empire of Japan. The population, the polticians and the military within the Republic consider Japan the root of all their greviences, and blame them entirely for the loss of their homeland on Earth - paradoxically as well as for their salvation being driven into the arms of the Union.
Government
The Chinese Soviet Socialist Republic fashions itself a Maoist Union Republic, with the political power resting in the Chinese Communist Party. The People's Assembly is the primary legislative assembly, and is voted for by the populace, however only Party members can run for office. Members of the assembly represent the various cities of the Republic based on population and importance. The President is voted for by the Assembly, and runs for an 8 year term, unless voted out of office by the Assembly. Seperate of the direct political system is the Communist Party itself.
However, it is stills subservient to the Communist Party of the Soviet Union and the All-Union Directives transmitted via faster-than-light communications systems from New Leningrad.
Economy
Society
The Chinese Soviet Socialist Republic is a martial/workers society, blending Neo-Maoism and Marxist-Leninist Proletarian Colonization principles into everyday life. Of particular note is the NEW SOVIET MAN version in Chinese philosophy: the New Chinese Man. NCMs are encouraged to study party doctrine, Soviet and Chinese culture, enlist in the military and work in the industries that fuel the CSSR's endeavours.
Chinese cities are hives of buildings, apartment blocks and factories; with Soviet Red Army recruitment centres a common sight, as well as the Chinese People's Guard that many join to provide for their families working on the CSSR's planets and distant Autonomous Republics.
Culture
Military
The CSSR does not maintain its own standing arm due to its membership within the Union, it does however maintain large paramilitary forces, militias and a border guard fleet that cooperates with Soviet equivilents.
- People's Militia
- Chinese People's Liberation Guard
- Naval Flotilla of the People's Liberation Guard
